Originating from the Philippines, Jasmine rice was officially imported to Vietnam in 1992. This rice variety is mainly grown in the Mekong Delta in two seasons: Summer – Autumn and Winter – Spring.
The characteristics of this type of rice are long grain, clear white, hard body and little flatness. When cooked, it has a mild aroma. The rice is sticky. Because Jasmine rice is quite cheap, it is popular with consumers and restaurants. Not only has a beautiful appearance, but the quality of Jasmine rice is also very good, so it is often exported to countries inside and outside the region.
According to the Vietnam Food Association, the export price of Jasmine rice remains stable at about 583-587 USD/ton. Glutinous rice is a grain of rice that is separated and harvested from the glutinous rice plant, which is very popular in Asia. This type of rice is characterized by short grain, milky white colour and low amylose content. When cooked, the rice has a certain stickiness and aroma.
In terms of nutritional value, glutinous rice is high in starch and calories. In 100 grams of glutinous rice, there are about 344 kcal.
